Soft tissue augmentation
Gum augmentation is a procedure to thicken thin gingiva, particularly important before planned orthodontic treatment. An adequately thick zone of attached gingiva provides protection against recession.

A free connective tissue graft or mucosal graft allows for widening and thickening of the attached gingiva zone. The procedure is performed under local anaesthesia using microsurgical techniques.
